Opened since 1929, the Uptown is a Kansas City treasure whose history is rooted in vaudeville acts, eventually becoming one of the city's premiere movie palaces.  It has gone through extensive renovations and now hosts concerts and live performances with cutting-edge light and sound systems.

Directions to the Uptown Theatre:

From I-70 (St. Louis and Topeka) take I-35 South. Take LEFT exit 1B (27th Street/Broadway.  The Uptown is 1.4 miles on the right.

Take I-35 (Emporia & points South) North to exit 228B (US56 / US69 / Shawnee Mission Parkway)
Bear right onto US56.  Stay on US56 into Missouri.  Just after crossing the state line, US56 will become Ward Parkway and run alongside a creek on your left (the creek divides the east and westbound lanes. You are headed east.  US56 then turns left crossing the creek and becoming Roanoke Parkway. Stay on US56 as it crosses 47th Street and becomes Madison Avenue.  Turn right onto W 39th Street for .2 mile
Turn left onto Broadway Street and into venue.
